MECAL SHUT HEIGHT GAUGE (STP) |

Used to set and maintain the shut height of crimping presses to 135.8mm
+/-0.02mm. This is achieved by incorporating a load spring to simulate a
load of 850Kg as when actually crimping. For non standard shut heights eg
Far Eastern presses, a range of adaptor plates can be supplied.
Regular checking of shut heights ensures consistent
results between presses and also helps indicate when a machine might require
maintenance. |

To measure the force needed (in Newtons) to pull a
terminal off a wire. Pulling speed can be adjusted to suit certain test
criteria. Each unit is calibrated and tested at Mecal. A serial comms port
is included to interface with on line quality systems.

tuned in Mecal's laboratory following Mecal standard NR 0010 Ed.1 dated
06/99, and its calibration is carried out with Mecal specific equipment
MST 0158, fitted with 546 QDT force analyzer - s/n 19563 (certification
SIT 990164). |

It
is sometimes desirable not to cut the terminal carrier strip during crimping
as the terminal waste can cause problems elsewhere. This is particularly
true on fully automatic machines or on a stripper / crimper where scrap
material can cause jams and damage. By disabling the strip cutter on a tool
and installing a carrier strip cutter, the strip is cut in a controlled
manor away from critical processes. A pneumatic control is available to fit
to the crimping press. |
